A ik knew he was an Artist at the age of 7 when his elementary 2 class teacher wrote a huge letter ‘h’ on the board, called it a chair and instructed the class to copy it on their drawing pads. Aik got up and said to the teacher: “You just wrote a huge letter ‘h’ and that’s not a chair”. The teacher asked Aik to go to the board and show her and the class how a chair should be drawn. Aik stood on top of a stool to be able to reach the right height and instantly drew a real chair to the amazement of the teacher and the entire class. That was also the year he first earned money from art. At University (University of Nigeria Nsukka), some of his lecturers always thought that they were merely guiding him rather than teaching him.
Aik is multi-talented and multi-disciplinary; he believes that works of art should not only be beautiful but also functional. Aik wants the viewer to be able to relate, connect and interact deeply on personal terms with his works.
Aik has many of his works in the hands of private collectors overseas especially in the United States and most people that have seen his works don’t even know his country of origin so he decided to do his first solo exhibition in Nigeria, his country of origin.
